SUMMER DAYDREAMS JULY 1 - SEPTEMBER 25 // KENNETH SUSYNSKI, AMANDA CALDWELL & SEIKO A. PURDUE The summer exhibit at the Chase Gallery is open Monday, July 1 through Wednesday, September 25. Featuring three regional artists each working in their own distinct styles and in a range of mediums, the work all shares an evocative, dream-like quality. Fiber artist Seiko A. Purdue installed her fiber piece, Berry Grove, in the Chase, stringing the lightweight fabric structures from the ceiling slats above. The installation is surrounded by the large oil paintings by Seattle-based artist Kenneth Susynski and the paintings and drawings of Spokane artist Amanda Caldwell. All three artists will be at the gallery for the September First Friday reception, on Friday, September 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. as well as for a lunch-hour Artist Talk that day, from noon to 1 p.m. www.spokanearts.org/chase-gallery/ I do not participate in social media personally, yet have decided to post my portfolio going back to 2015 onto Behance, the largest online platform for creatives.
The page is intended for imagery only as I do not plan to comment, post or offer replies - as always, I direct interested art lovers to my website and prefer to interact and engage privately, usually via email. Please visit the following link to the new page: https://www.behance.net/aduckwithoutpants Iron Poppies (2019): marking a directional shift to a hybrid-style that ties together key artistic elements that I have employed in the past in richly-rendered compositions. This is the first in the new series, Unholy Martyrs, based upon and dedicated to the plight of women prisoners of way in Poland during WWII.

issuu.com/artistportfoliomagazine/docs/issue_33/1?ff=true&e=2382761/61353310 “Everything We Do is Music” is the theme of Gallery 114’s annual June juried exhibit. Does work exude rhythm, melody, lyrics, harmony or dissonance from a social, political or musical perspective? Does it elicit a reaction in sounds, words or movement? Does it dance or sway? Does it move the viewer like a song or symphony? Does it sing? Gallery 114 invites 2D and 3D artists to respond to the theme: Our gallery is one of the oldest art collectives on the west coast and is located in the heart of Portland, Oregon’s bustling arts playground, the Pearl District. At Gallery 114, you can “expect the unexpected” because we are artist owned, artist run and artists unleashed. We encourage our members as well as jury participants to take risks and explore new and different creative efforts with underlying quality and integrity. For this show, “Everything We Do is Music”, we turn our gallery over to innovative artists who test boundaries and dive into their sense of creative freedom. STATEMENTKenneth Susynski presents a unique, hybrid style of figurative expressionism blended with the abstract in narrative compositions that stress an interpretation of beauty, with a hint of wit, exploring combinations of historical and contemporary cultural themes. |
